If you go to either Meribel or Verbier, the exclusive ski resorts in France and Switzerland, you will have an opportunity to experience a new type of brand activation and consumer engagement. As a part of an overall campaign Nissan decided to place iBars® permanently within bars in the two resorts.

The aim of the iBars® is to support Nissan’s overall drive to increase their market share within this specific demographic segment. The iBars® have a range of applications from games to image browsers, and a new feature is a direct real-time link to online photo sharing service Flickr. Nissan photographers are out on the slopes during the day taking pictures of happy skiers and snowboarders, and the images are uploaded to Flickr and can then be viewed on the iBar®. As people come in from the slopes they can explore photos of themselves and their friends on the iBar® courtesy of Nissan.

Another new feature is the metric feedback mechanism. Nissan are able to extract usage metrics via the net directly from the iBars®. That way they get instant feedback on which applications are effective and which might need tweaking. They also get real-time feedback on the number of impressions they are generating and the length and depth of those impressions - important marketing metrics that help drive a real time campaign.
